Job && Work Experience

Web Programming Intern

@ WRL Advertising
April 2010 - July 2010

WRL Advertising is a respectable company in Canton, Ohio with a very great web team to back it up. I started my internship after meeting their Internet Director at a meeting. He made a good impression on me, so during my last semester at Stark State College, we got in contact for an internship.

At WRL, I got invaluable experience observing the web team and getting hands-on training - I got to learn how a real web team worked. When I first started, I didn't know a bit of Ruby on Rails (which they primarily used), but by the end of my internship I was the Lead Programmer and Project Lead for Discover Hartville.com. I also helped with minor HTML/CSS changes for the following projects: Canton Mercy, Bevcorp, and (very minor programming changes)Dunlap Hospital.

Student Tutor

@ Stark State College of Technology
January 2010 - April 2010

While I was attending Stark State, I worked in the Tutoring Center, tutoring students one-on-one in Stark's HTML & CSS, Advanced CSS, PHP, Advanced PHP, Javascript, Database Design, and SQL Server classes. I tried my best to help students (both traditional and non-traditional) to understand not only how, but why we do something; I helped them to complete their projects and homework assignments on-time and correctly.

IT Assistant

@ Stark State College of Technology
August 2009 - December 2009

I worked as an IT Assistant under Larry Ray, my Dept. Head at Stark State. I worked with Mr. Ray and Dr. Bob Leasure to create a Books Database from the ground up that is now used to keep track of materials needed for classes and book orders for each semester. This can generate reports that can be printed off and given to instructors for review. I also began two website projects using standards-compliant xHTML, CSS, and PHP.

Web Developer

Freelance

Most recently, I did a pro-bono website for Denise Jones, owner of Save a Mom Pregnant Dog Rescue. The site was "sponsored" by me to assist her with her dog rescue and online presence and applications.

I have created my own website, Lindsey Campbell .net, in my spare time for personal use. As the site explains, I plan creating web design & development tutorials eventually.

I have also worked with John McNamara, an instructor at Stark State and owner of 7G Technologies, to create a website for his personal "antivirus removal" side project. This website is My Virus Removal .com and was the first website I had ever done professionally. I hand-wrote the code using Notepad++ and it passed through the W3C validators as strict, with no errors. I also implemented search engine optimization techniques and worked with him on his SEM strategy.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology

@ Franklin University
June 2010 - Expected: May 2012

I just began classes at Franklin University for my bachelor's in Information Technology. So far, I'm only enrolled in one summer course and will begin my other courses this Fall.

Associate's Degree in Web Design & Development

@ Stark State College of Technology
January 2008 - May 2010

Since my starting semester at Stark State, I was on the Full-Time Dean's List. I was recognized by my professors as being extremely talented and chosen, along with three other students, to present at the Stark State College Advisory Committee Meeting during Fall 2009.

Although I seemed to have buried a lot of my assignments in flash drives and harddrives when I bought a new computer, I managed to scrape some up. I completed several projects at Stark State worth adding to a portfolio, including:
